Georgetown REUSE is a non-profit that works to increase accessibility, reduce waste, and promote a circular system of consumption by way of providing affordable and pre-loved clothing, school supplies, and dorm materials to students and community members.

What We Do

Gathering Donations
REUSE gathers donations around campus and at all of our sales. Bins can be found in Hilltoss, Uncommon Grounds, and in many dorm lobbies. Donations are collected weekly by our operations associates.

Inventorying
REUSE sorts through all donations, selected sellable items and items for external donations. All sellable items are then inventoried based on their original pricing and condition.

Pricing
REUSE uses an algorithm to assign a heavily discounted resale price to each item based on its current state and the initial price it sold for. Discount rates increase as quality declines and as original retail price rises. Our sales team also manually reviews any items assigned a price over $18 to ensure we are charging an accessible price in every instance.

Selling
REUSE sells online and on the Georgetown campus. We are always at the Georgetown Farmers’ Market on Wednesday during their season, and we host partnership pop-up sales. Our online store runs year round with regular uploads of new items.

External Donations
All items unlikely to sell through our operations our donated to Project B Green to make a further impact in surrounding communities. For more information on Project B Green, look into our partnerships.

ReStitch
ReStitch helps grow our impact by mending and upcycling clothing. Community members can drop off items to be mended at any of our sales to be returned at the Farmers’ Market Sales. We also sell upcycled items, like tote bags, at our sales.

REUSE prides itself on producing educational content in the Georgetown Community. We closely track our impact through sales, donations, marketing, and so much more. We also are constantly researching our four core values — sustainability, circularity, inclusivity, and accessibility — producing informative articles on our website.
Our Annual Partner
REUSE is thrilled to announce this school year's annual partner to be Washington Parks & People. Washington Parks & People's mission is to grow city-wide, park-based community health and justice through innovation and partnerships. Parks & People leads greening initiatives across the city to help revitalize our parks and world for justice alongside our communities. These efforts include massive land reclamation, native reforestation, watershed restoration, public health and fitness programming, urban agriculture, and green job training. Guided by our Impact team, leadership selected this organization as a local group aligning with our values of sustainability, inclusivity, circularity, and accessibility. We look forward to this partnership and joint impact efforts.
